Business Law Labs Expand
Tom Tongue works with students Megan Kronsteiner, Reid Verner, and Kirk Neste
In the fall of 2009 the Mergers & Acquisitions lab expanded to allow the participation of twelve more students. This popular lab is an accompaniment to the M&A course. Portland firm Miller Nash has joined Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt and Stoel Rives to provide expert resources to students. Two attorneys from each of these well respected law firms offer their transactional experience. Abe Cable and Clifton Molatore are partners at Miller Nash. Alumni Tom Tongue and Dave Kopilak are with Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt. The four of them teach a total of 24 M&A students. Approximately twelve more students are enrolled in our real estate finance lab, which is sponsored by Stoel Rives. In the labs, business law students are introduced to the process of doing a deal. Students draft, negotiate, and close a small-scale simulated contract. Professor Rob Illig says, "These labs give you the experience of taking each step on your own - along with some coaching beforehand and feedback afterwards. Much of the learning, in fact, will arise from your mistakes!" |
