We are also excited that the Lundquist College of Business's MBA program and the Oregon Law Review will partner with GBI for the symposium this year! The vast experience and dedication of the students in these organizations will provide added depth and perspective to the planning process. By bringing on the business school and the law review as partners, GBI is one step closer to its long-term plan of realizing a seamless integration of business and legal perspectives.
"Forecasting from the First 100 Days"
The inauguration of President Obama portends unprecedented federal policy shifts, including the synthesis of economic, energy, environmental, and national security policy under a major economic stimulus package. Our vision for the panel is to bring municipal, state, and federal officials together to discuss how the first 100 days of the Obama administration will impact sustainability efforts and the growth of the new "green economy" in the Pacific Northwest.
"Transforming Risk Into Opportunity"
Corporate social responsibility is rapidly becoming the new cornerstone of business governance. But how can companies succeed in stimulating cultural change within an organization and meet their "triple bottom line?" Businesses in the Pacific Northwest have been integrating environmental and social ethics into their business models for decades by transforming their supply chains, focusing their marketing, and leading by example. In this panel we'll hear from leaders who have done just that.
"Can Oregon Meet Its RPS?"
The current crisis in the financial markets has made capital for new projects harder to come by. Our vision is to bring experts in renewable energy project development and finance together with sustainability strategists to discuss how Oregon can reach its target of 25% by 2025 through existing and nascent technologies.
"Revitalizing Real Estate by Building Green"
The real estate market and the construction industry have been hit especially hard in the last 12 months. However, many believe that those sectors provide the foundation for revitalizing the national economy: both through the integration of energy efficiency technologies and the creation of new "green collar" jobs. We will bring together specialists in tax, conservation, architecture & design, and consulting to discuss how real investment can create real stimulus.
